If you ask me what's the best Sunday Brunch in town, well my answer is Keraton. But, if you are specific to the best Southern Italian brunch buffet, let me tell you this is GAIA Ristorante at The Plaza! No doubt there's no such competition as long as my knowledge. I've been to many 5 stars buffet (hotels) but none quite like this. Two points about GAIA are dining with a view and fresh quality seafood.
Well, truthfully we got invited here for a sunday brunch and we were both glad that we could visit such a nice and great place. There are a lot of sunday brunch in Jakarta at the moment, but here's the only place to enjoy Southern Italian cuisines, like authentic Italian cooked by Italians themselves. The place itself is such a luxury, you can tell from the table decoration, the wine glass, the top notch service and the hospitaly from the servers.
Main Dining Area
So, the price per pax is IDR 450.000++ and is only available every sunday from 12 - 3 PM. This price includes free flow mineral water or available mocktails. Their Mojito was really good and refreshing.
You can also get free flow wine for additional IDR 400.000++/pax.
Their main selling point as I said earlier is their fresh seafood including assorted sashimi, oysters, shrimp, prawn, tuna, squid and many more. Despite not a fan raw fish, I can tell that the Sashimi were very fresh. I mean look at that color! I am also not a fan of Oyster, it really scares me especially when its raw. But somehow, I love it here because I put some lemon juice and sambal. They sambal was really good though.
I love this shrimp, its different and the meat was naturally sweet.
You can find some pickles, cheese, dried fish, shrimp, clams, smoked beef and more.
There's another seating section near the bar.
Its not italian without having pasta! Yes, their main buffet table is filled with varieties of pasta and seafood. I'm not pretty sure about the name of the dishes, but my favorite is the first picture below. Its a kind of baked risotto (or pasta?) with mussels, shrimp and squid, very flavorful. The tuna was also nicely seared and has a texture similar to tender beef steak.

Desserts Station! Everything was perfect seriously! Don't forget to try their Tiramisu, it might sound like a reguler dessert but Tiramisu is originally from Italy and here is the right place to try authentic Tiramisu :)
Overall, the food here are worth the visit. For only IDR 450.000++, you can get the value of more than that. Imagine having unlimited fresh oysters and sashimi, the two most expensive food! It is adviced that you make a reservation to reserve your table :)
